15-year-old Tom Corke won five out of six games, only losing in the final.
Players were all members of the academy, coming from as far north as Staffordshire and as far south as Cornwall. En route to the final Tom won his group of four players, conquering Welsh youth international Morgan Dobbs 3-2. Tom then went on to beat Southern Youth player John Brown 3-1 in the quarter-final and PDC Youth’s Jack Crease 4-2. Unfortunately Tom could not keep his winning momentum going, losing in the final to Dan Williams of Rugeley in Staffordshire.
Tom’s next event is on 29th June when he plays at Lakeside, the home of darts, with all youth players from the south.
He regularly attends Steve Brown Darts Academy and plays county darts for West of England Youth (under 18s). Tom is related to darts master James Wade.
Tom has also recently played league darts in Bristol on Friday nights for Steve Brown’s father’s pub, the Old Mail House, which has helped him improve his match play. He still hopes to play more locally to Melksham and if anyone has a vacancy for a team member please contact Rich on 07594 456353.
