Get your donations doubled with The Big Give Christmas Challenge

Story posted on

Local training charity The Learning Curve is delighted to have been accepted into the Big Give Christmas Challenge, an annual matched giving event run by The Big Give, the charitable arm of the Reed Recruitment Group.

On the 4th, 5th and 6th December, donations to The Learning Curve’s project to develop its new Melksham learning centre may be doubled by The Big Give. But set your alarm because there is limited matched funding available – the funding is made available from 10.00am each day so that’s the best time to donate.

A donation of £10.00 could be worth £22.50 to The Learning Curve with the matched funding and Gift Aid, so this is an easy way to make your money go further. Individual donations by either members of the public or organisations can be anything between just £5.00 and £5,000 and they need to be made online via the following link between 4th and 6th December: new.thebiggive.org.uk/pro ject/Learningcentre

Funds raised during The Big Give Christmas Challenge will enable The Learning Curve to further develop its new Melksham learning centre, creating an accessible venue for local people to develop the skills and confidence they need to progress in work and life. In particular, The Learning Curve is keen to use the money raised to install a stair lift to its new first floor facilities.

As part of its fundraising efforts, The Learning Curve is holding a Christmas Craft Fair and Cake Sale on 4th and 5th December at its Melksham Learning Centre at Unit 3 Challeymead Business Park opposite ASDA. Doors open at 10.00am until 2.00pm each day and visitors will be able to purchase handmade gifts and decorations, festive floral arrangements, food and books.

Little ones will be well catered for with free toddler craft activities, so parents will be able to relax and enjoy homemade cakes whilst their children are busy being creative! Anyone wishing to have a stall at the Fair should contact marketing@learn ingcurve.org.uk or call 01225 792500.

The Learning Curve is asking local companies to support its fundraising by encouraging employees to take part in a festive fancy dress day on Friday 5th December. Come to work in a Christmas jumper or Santa hat and make a small donation via The Big Give website which may be doubled with matched funds. Share your photos on social media using #FestiveFriday.

Kathryn Roynon, HR and central services manager at The Learning Curve said, “Our charity changes lives through learning – with the support of The Big Give and donations by individuals and organisations, we will be able to make an even bigger difference to the lives of local people next year.

“There are three ways people can get involved to support our fundraising – firstly by making a donation online at 10.00am on 4th, 5th or 6th December, secondly by coming to our Christmas Craft Fair and Cake Sale and thirdly by encouraging your colleagues to take part in festive fun in your own workplace on Friday 5th December to help raise money towards our project.

“We are very grateful to organisations including The Tinder Foundation, Melksham Rotary Club and Kiddivouchers who have already pledged to support our current fundraising campaign.”
