MELKSHAM Seniors Forum is keeping local people busy this summer, and is soon hosting a meeting with the local MP, a film matinee, and an activity afternoon.
MP for Chippenham, Michelle Donelan, will be speaking with the seniors at an open meeting at Melksham Town Hall on Thursday 28th July from 2pm.
Seniors chairman Brian Warwick says, “The MP will update us on her first year as a Member of Parliament. It will be interesting to learn about how she got to grips with the parliamentary procedures she had to learn very fast.
“Michelle is also keen to hear the concerns of older people and of any issues we might like to raise. Please make a very special effort to attend.”

Then on the following Monday, the Seniors’ activity club will meet at Forest Community Centre from 1.30pm for its regular fun social event. Transport to the centre can be arranged via the tourist information centre on 707424.
On Monday 15th August, the group is showing the 2014 family film ‘Paddington’ at Melksham Assembly Hall.
Doors open at 1.30pm and the film will start at 2pm.
Brian said, “We are offering a very happy film especially suitable for grandparents and family members looking after children over eight years-old. To ensure reasonable good behaviour of the young ones, the number of children will be limited to two per adult.
“It is a long time since I had watched a film with my own grown-up family and their own families, and it was a real treat. I really enjoyed it. This is our first inter-generation matinee so let’s make a real effort to make it very special.”
