THE future looks bright for Melksham dance troupe, In2Dance who are celebrating after winning an award at this year’s Melksham Carnival.
In2Dance was set up only a year ago but already has over 20 members and continues to go from strength to strength. The group put on an enthusiastic procession routine for Melksham Carnival which caught the eye of the judges, securing them the royalty choice award.
Kim Rimmer who started the group said, “We were so pleased to win the royalty award and I’m so proud of all the children.
“I have been dancing since I was four years-old with various companies. My passion is street dance and I’ve performed in hip hop dance competitions, but my best achievement would be qualifying for the world championships.
“I have now brought on board Vicky Hunt who teaches the children under eight years old. She has huge experience and a great knowledge of dance. She is a brilliant director and has helped me grow the business.
“I love seeing how far the children have come from when they first walked into the dance studio and watching their confidence grow – it’s so rewarding. Dance is such a great way for children to express themselves and gain confidence.”
Local business owner Andy Underwood who sponsors the dance group. Andy said, “My grandchildren Megan and Josh recently joined the group and they absolutely love it. I was very pleased to get involved and support them because it’s great for kids to be part of something positive.”
Kim added, “I cannot thank Andy Underwood and the whole Underwood family enough for there generosity and support – I couldn’t of done this without them. I have been blown away by the support I have had for the group and myself. True Melksham spirit!”
