TEA, cake and crafts have been on the cards for Atworth WI over the past couple of months.
Helen Snowball reports, “Afternoon cream tea in the beautiful garden of one of our members replaced the August Meeting of Atworth WI. It was a very hot day and we were glad to have the shade of several gazebos where the committee served homemade scones and jam and Cornish cream to the members.
“We also had a sales table and a raffle in support of the Denman Fund which helps with the cost of running the WI College in Oxfordshire. It was a most enjoyable afternoon.
“On September 4th volunteers from our WI served tea and biscuits at the very successful Atworth on Show at Atworth Village Hall.
“At the September meeting Sheila Richardson showed us how to make organza poppies. We were asked to take scissors etc with us and a most enjoyable and satisfying evening was spent making our own organza poppy.
“At our October meeting Bob Browning will be giving a talk on A Celebration of Wood. Visitors are welcome, cost £3. All meetings are at 7pm on the Third Monday of the month at Atworth Village Hall.”
