Children from Forest & Sandridge Primary school visited Brookside residential home to share lunch with the residents.
It was part of the national care home open day. Deputy Headteacher Vicki Liddell said, “Brookside provided a delicious lunch which the children and residents ate together. It was lovely to see children as young as 5 years old chatting away to people in their 80s and 90s.
“After lunch Brookside had a ‘children’s entertainer’ who made amazing balloon creations for the children. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience; the older children chatted about their recent WW2 topic and spoke to the residents about their experiences of the war. The children were all buzzing on their return to school and all felt very lucky to be given the opportunity to share the lunch with friends.”
