Free holiday events for children at Melksham Library

MELKSHAM Library is hosting a series of free events for children at the library over the summer holidays. as follows:-

Saturday Story Times – Saturdays: Until the 26th August from 10.30am – 11.00am.  Stories with an Animal Agent themes for the Summer Reading Challenge.

‘No Dragons for Tea’ – Monday 14th August 10.30am – 11.00am

Special story time with an education officer from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service and children also get a chance to dress up as a mini fire fighter!  Please book a place by phoning the library on 01225 702039 or call into the library.

‘Pigeons at War’ – Thursday 17th August 11.00am – 12.00pm

Come and hear how real life animal agents helped deliver messages which saved lives in the First World War!!  Please book a place by phoning the library on 01225 702039 or call into the library.  **Please note, there may be a visit from live pigeons**

‘Meet the Guide Dogs’ – Monday 21st August 11.00am – 11.30am

Come and hear how real life animal agents, guide dogs, do a fantastic job helping humans to live an independent life.

Craft a Magnetic Clothes Pin Bug (Animal Agents Summer Craft Session) – Thursday 24th August 2.00pm – 3.00pm

Create a magnetic clothespin bug to clip things to your fridge.  Choose from a dragonfly, butterfly or a ladybird and let your imagination run wild as you decorate it.  All materials provided.

The activity is suitable for 5 – 9 year olds.  Event is free and no need to book. Please wear old clothing as we may be using paint or glue.
