Melksham in Bloom winners announced

FOR the seventh year running, green fingered Bruce Petty has been named as the overall winner of Melksham in Bloom.

Bruce said, “It’s always nice to win. I was disappointed to not receive anything for my containers in the front garden, but somebody else has got something better and that’s what I like to see. I hope to come back bigger and stronger next year.”

The winners of Melksham in Bloom 2017 are: Best Overall Garden, Bruce Petty. Large Front Garden, Bruce Petty. Small Front Garden, Arthur Ephgrave. Large Rear Garden, Mary Saunders and Mr & Mrs Jones. Small Rear Garden, David Walker. Best single tub/container (Domestic), Mr & Mrs Jones. Best single hanging basket (Domestic), Bruce Petty. Best Water Feature, Mrs Iris Fryer.

Best decorated site (Commercial), Jo Bayliss (Waitrose). Best single hanging basket/planter/ trough (Independent Trader), The Emporium. Best Window Display, Clarkies Hairdressers. Best decorated site (Pub/Hotel/ Restaurant/Cafe), The Tavern. Best hanging basket (Hotel/Restaurant/ Pub/Cafe), The Tavern.

Best Horticultural Display (School), Shaw School. Best Wildlife Friendly Garden (School), Shaw School. Best decorated site (Residential Housing for over 60s), Wharf Court. Best hanging basket/trough/planter (Residential Housing for over 60s), Wharf Court.

Best Street, Woodcombe. Best Allotment, Stu Wakeley.

The winners and runners-up will be presented with their cups, prizes and certificates at the Gardeners’ Society Show in September at the Assembly Hall.
