What’s on at Melksham United Church

As most of you know I am very new to Melksham.

I am quite impressed at how many community activities are held at each of the churches which belong to Melksham Family of Churches. As the minister of Melksham United Church, I am still getting to know what goes on in our building at what time and in what section.

One that is very dear to my heart and something that I would have liked to initiate in my previous appointment is a Friendship Group. This group meets in the lower hall on alternate Tuesday afternoons between 2.30pm until 4.00pm and was an initiative which began between the local funeral director and the church to provide a space for those who have been bereaved. This has blossomed into a vibrant social time which includes everything from flower arranging to a yearly organized trip. All newcomers (any age and any gender) are welcome to drop by and have a cup of tea with us. You do not have to attend every time.

Another special group is our parent/child minder and toddlers sessions called ‘Little Gems.’ This is for children from 0 – 5 years old. There is no charge for this although we do accept donations to assist in the healthy snack that is provided. At Christmas there is a party for the children complete with a real ‘Father Christmas.’

These are just a few activities and for a complete list of others, please check on the church website or telephone our lettings officer, Mrs Val Asselbrough at 01225 709473.
