Melksham Party in the Park, which will be held on Saturday 21st July at King George V field, is pleased to announce this year’s special guest will be Innes Sibun.
At the age of 12, Innes Sibun picked up the guitar after hearing BB King on the radio and since then, his career has been a whirlwind ride through blues, rock, soul and acoustic music.
His first record “That’s what the blues can do” was produced by the legendary producer Mike Vernon, who was responsible for producing Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac albums in the 60s as well as John Mayall’s seminal Bluesbreaker album with Eric Clapton. The album was voted number one blues album in Ireland in 1991.
In 1993 Innes was approached by Robert Plant to play in his band and he played extensively throughout the USA on his Fate of Nations tour, also appearing on the Jay Leno show and MTV.
Following the States, the band toured Europe and South America where they played the Hollywood Rock festivals in Rio, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires with Aerosmith.
After his stint with Robert Plant he went on to pursue a solo career playing blues, and with his own band has played clubs and festivals throughout the world and opening for blues greats such as Johnny Winter and Peter Green. He has made seven albums for independent labels such as Provogue and Viceroy records. In the last two years he has appeared at the Carnegie Hall for the Lead Belly Fest and at Montreux Jazz Festival.
