HOLT Tennis Club is holding a 24-hour tennis marathon on Friday 22nd June to Saturday 23rd June in memory of Steve Rowlands, a friend to many in the village, who died last year of lymphoma.
Organisers of Holt Moon Tennis, as the event is known, say they are raising money for the charity Lymphoma Action, after a dear friend of the village died of lymphoma last year.
Lymphoma Action is the UK’s only charity dedicated to lymphoma. They have been providing in-depth, expert information for over 30 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer. Their work drives improvements in the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of lymphoma.
Holt Tennis Club members say, “There are many ways to get involved with this cause. If you would like to pick up a racquet and join in on the tennis court, email holtmoontennis @gmail.com stating when and how long you would like to play for.
“We are looking for people to help us play for the 24-hour period from 12noon on Friday 22nd July to 12noon on Saturday 23rd June, looking to fill hourly slots.
“You can either enter just yourself and we will pair you up in a singles or doubles match, or you can enter a team and play amongst yourselves.
“There is no fee for entering and the tennis is free. In return, you can get as many donations as possible for the event from family, friends and work colleagues.
“You can collect the donations via a sponsorship form provided by the club or via Justgiving.com. If you would prefer not to play but would like to donate – visit their JustGiving page.
“Holt Primary School is joining in on the fundraising action where the year three class will be playing from 1.30pm-2.30pm on Friday 22nd June.”
