Dorothy House Hospice Care invites local people to join their 8km Bath Moonlight Walk on Saturday 15th September, starting at 10pm from the SouthGate shopping centre in Bath.
The Bath Moonlight Walk is now open to everyone, so both women and men aged14+ are welcome to join in the fun. Early bird entries cost £15 and are open at www.bathmoon lightwalk.org.uk.
Dorothy House cares for over 3,000 patients, family members and carers every year across Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset. Last year’s Bath Moonlight Walk, thanks to the efforts of all who took part, raised £60,000 to help fund vital patient care and this year, that charity hopes to raise more funds.
This year’s theme is ‘walk back to the 80s’ and as part of the warm-up before the walk, Dorothy House is arranging a mass participation lesson for walkers to learn how to do the Moon Walk. Starting from SouthGate shopping centre, the 8km route takes in the main sights of the vibrant city of Bath. Walkers are welcome from 8.30pm to come and enjoy the fun atmosphere with a raffle to win a luxury Mulberry handbag, fabulous merchandise, 30% off food in selected restaurants, entertainment and a gentle exercise warm-up.
Discounted meal vouchers are available to walkers for the first time this year at a variety of SouthGate restaurants including Giraffe, Pizza Express and Tapas Revolution and there are extra discounts for teams of six. To claim the meal voucher e-mail your team name to emily.knight@ dorothyhouse-hospice. org.uk for more details.
The early bird entry fee of £15 is available until Monday 30th July, the standard entry fee of £20 is available until Sunday 9th September, followed by a late fee of £25 from 10th September. Registration fees only cover the event costs, so entrants are invited to either pledge a minimum of £40 in sponsorship or make a personal donation in lieu of sponsorship.
The Bath Moonlight Walk will be the ultimate 80s party, so sign up to enjoy the fun. Walkers can wear their choice of 80s outfit – from funky leg warmers, leggings, big t-shirts, side pony tails to power dressing with shoulder pads, bright colours, accessories and big hair. Visit the Dorothy House shops website at www.dorothy house.org.uk/ shops/ to find a vintage 80s clothing bargain and contribute towards patient care costs.
