Town to face Swindon Town & Bristol Rovers

MELKSHAM Town FC’s exciting line-up of pre-season friendlies kicks off this Saturday, 7th July,  as the club welcomes Swindon Town FC’s first team to the infiLED arena at Oakfields.

Town will also take on League One giants, Bristol Rovers, next week on Saturday 14th July, as the club continues to prepare for its historic debut in the Southern League after winning promotion last season.

The first match this Saturday, 7th July, against Swindon Town promises to be a day to remember for Town and football fans everywhere in more ways than one after England’s nail-biting victory against Columbia on Tuesday night in the World Cup.

Kick-off for the Swindon Town match on Saturday will be at 11.30am, to avoid clashing with England’s World Cup quarter-final game against Swindon.

After Town’s match against Swindon, fans from both sides can settle down to watch England on the big screens at the ground from 3pm with the bar open and food available.

Chair of Melksham Town FC, Darren Perrin says, “This will be a cracking day for football fans. Not only will you get to enjoy Town taking on Swindon, but you can also cheer on the England squad at the bar afterwards on our giant TV screens. The bar will be fully-stocked and ready to help celebrate or drown your sorrows depending on the result!”

Town’s manager, Kieran Baggs said, “This will be a great showcase for fans to see some great local footballers playing at a professional level. It’ll also be a chance for fans get to see the new signings in action.

“Hopefully it’ll be a scorcher of a day and with England through to the quarter-finals, it will be a fantastic day of football!

“It’ll be good to blow away some of the cobwebs and hit the floor running, getting as much out of the game and all the upcoming  training games as possible, helping us move into the new season – our first in the Southern League – with enthusiasm and determination.”

Other big games coming up are against Bristol Rovers on Saturday 14th July, KO 3pm and Chippenham Town on Saturday 21st July again with a 3pm KO.
