First Date, a rock musical, which was written and directed by Justin Haggett, of Melksham Music and Drama (MMAD) has been deemed a huge success.
MMAD say, “The four shows were full each night and went down a storm with regular supporters and those who were attending for the first time. The story, set in a rock bar, The Just Inn, told the story of several couples and their experiences on a first date. There were some challenging rock numbers in the show and the acting was believable, as the bar in The Just Inn was the main arena.”
Justin said, “I wanted MMAD to perform a different genre and wrote this musical hoping the members would support me. They were phenomenal and gave a shining performance. The reviews and feedback have all been positive. I am so proud of them all.”
Dee Way, regional representative for the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) attended the first weekend. Dee was impressed with the new genre and said she really enjoyed the show and loved the music.
At the debrief session the cast expressed how much fun they had performing First Date and there was certainly a lot of energy on stage.
MMAD are now starting rehearsals for their February production, a pantomime called Romeo and Juliet. This has been written by Mandy Raikes-May, a MMAD member. Mandy will also be directing Romeo and Juliet.
