CURVES in Avonside, Melksham, is celebrating a successful month of fundraising, raising £4,881 to help fight breast cancer – beating their target of £3,000.
The total amount raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October also soars past last year’s amount of £2,863.
Manager of the fitness centre just for women, Sue Armstrong, said, “It’s absolutely amazing, and quite emotional as well – so many people know someone affected by cancer.
“The generosity of our members has been overwhelming. We wanted to raise £3,000 this year and would’ve been happy to hit that target, so to get £4,881 – nearly £2,000 more than last year – is fantastic.”
During the fundraising month, staff and members of Curves took part in coffee and cake sales, a sponsored walk, a skittles night, raffles, bring and buy sales, and much more.
“The willingness of our members to help us with things like raffle prizes has been staggering – they are so generous. We would like to say a big thank you to the ladies that did the sponsored walk with us and all of the people that took the time out of their own lives to help raise money.”
Located at Avonside Enterprise Park, all women are welcome to come along and meet the team and try out some of the easy-to-use gym equipment.
