Recruitment company raises over £7,000 in support of children’s opportunity centre

CMD Recruitment has presented a cheque for over £7,000 to the Devizes Opportunity Centre, to support the charity  that opens a world of opportunities for children with special needs and their families. The company raised the money by hosting a  charity golf day at Cumberwell Park earlier this year.

CMD Recruitment said, “The centre provides amazing support from education to therapeutic care for the children, and emotional support for their families, as well as assisting children with transitioning into school and coping with any difficulties that may arise.

“Being an independent charity, they rely heavily on donations made by the public and local communities, so we sought to raise as much as we possibly could to support the team that work there, allowing them to provide more care for the children and their families.

“We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part and express our gratitude to the many generous local businesses that supported this fundraiser, and the attendees of the day who donated generously.

“We’d like to say a special thank you to the donators of our raffle prizes; Cumberwell Park Golf Club, Upavon Golf Club, Gaigers, RMI Consulting, The Nell Family, Swindon Town FC, Will Collier of Harlequins, Dominos and David Owen.

“Our golf day fundraiser would not have been possible without the very generous support of local businesses. We had several generous helpers on the day, including The Gourmet Brownie Kitchen providing the golfers with fabulous brownies, Wadworth Brewery donating a keg to keep the guys going as they made their way around the course, and a beautiful gin bar from Scout and Sage, boasting some lovely craft gins!”

Charlie Collier, of CMD said, “The whole point of the day was to raise as much money as possible for this amazing charity that relies on donations from the public. Lots of effort went in to making sure the day was a memorable one and I can’t thank everyone enough for their efforts – from my colleagues to the people and companies that donated. A special thank you to all our guests that dug deep and donated lots of money through our raffle and auction.

“The day was such a success that we may have to do another one next year – watch this space!”

Debbie Lambert, manager at Devizes Opportunity Centre added, “We are so grateful to CMD for arranging this fundraising golf day. The phenomenal amount raised will help our children and families so much and will ensure we can continue to provide essential interventions and strategies for children with additional needs, who are already facing so many challenges within their daily lives.

“The support of the local community is overwhelming and the support that CMD gained from local businesses and individuals in order for the day to be as successful as it was is incredible. On behalf of the committee, staff, children and parents we would like to say a huge thank you to all those who were involved. Your generosity will ensure we are able to continue opening our doors to these families.”
