With the summer holidays in full swing, Wiltshire Council’s ‘Get Active’ programme has sports and activities for young people of all ages.
In rural areas, the popular, multi-sport Fun in the Sun programme has returned to 27 village venues around the county, including Seend and Shaw, for 90-minute sessions of outdoor games, activities and sports. This programme is aimed at young people aged five to 11 years old and is free to attend.
The programme enables young people the opportunity to access multi-sport activities provided by fully qualified sports coaches on a weekly basis in their local communities. Sports delivered may change on a week by week basis, including tag rugby, cricket, football, dodgeball, tennis, rounders, athletics and team activities.
Children must bring with them a completed consent form. These can be downloaded from www.wiltshire. gov.uk/leisure-fun-in-the-sun or collected at their first session. Places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
Local sessions are available in Seend and Shaw on Friday 16th and 23rd August. Seend sessions take place at the recreation ground (SN12 6NS) from 12.30-2pm. Shaw sessions take place at the recreation ground (SN12 8EP) from 2.30-4pm.
