MELKSHAM Oak School has praised the hard work and determination of its students who collected their GCSE and A-level results this month.

The school has said that it is ‘immensely proud’ of its GCSE results, which have seen an increase in the number of students achieving Grade 5 and above in both mathematics and English.

About the GCSE results, new principal of the school, Alan Henderson, who officially starts in the role in the new school year said, “Melksham Oak Year 11 students received their GCSE results today (22nd August), representing the culmination of many years of hard work and determination. In amongst some outstanding results, we are pleased to be able to celebrate an increase in the number of our pupils who achieved grade 5 and above in both mathematics and English.

“These results enable our students to progress to a wide range of educational pathways including joining our fantastic sixth form, moving on to college courses and employment-based training.

“Today is about celebrating the results of each individual student, and we are particularly proud of the following students who achieved grade 9s: Chris Chiad, Oliwia Dybciak, Daisy Finch, Lottie Foster, Daisy Hale (who gained eight GCSEs at grade 9!), Nicola Lynch, Ewan Lanegan, Owen Lythell, Kalia Pearce and Erin Tarrant.

“This year’s GCSE results reflect the immense hard work of our students, their parents and their teachers. Given the challenges that the ever more rigorous GCSEs have brought, we are immensely proud of the results that have been achieved.

“Our congratulations go out to all of our students. We look forward to welcoming many back to our sixth form and we wish the very best of luck to those continuing their education elsewhere.”

A-level students have also impressed, with improvements on all key measures compared to last.

About the A-level results, interim principal, Aidan Blowers said, “Melksham Oak sixth form students finally received their A-level and Level 3 qualification results today (Thursday 15th August). We are so proud of the effort they put in to prepare for their exams.

“For many of our students it has been a nervous wait, as their grades determine whether or not they would be accepted onto their university course, apprenticeship or employment pathway.

“We are delighted to announce that our sixth form students achieved magnificent results, improving on all key measures from last year. This reflects the incredible hard work of both the students and our fantastic staff, along with the support of parents.

“Our highest performers were Jayden Brickell, James Dobbin, Kelli Green, Leo Seus and Lauren White. We are extremely proud of all our sixth form students’ achievements and wish them the best of luck for the future.”
