The work of a business administration apprentice at Melksham Town Council is certainly very varied, but even incumbent, Taylor Robinson, was surprised when three local pictures were unearthed last week and dispatched for her attention.
“It certainly makes a change from my usual workload,” said Taylor, trying to approximately date the pieces and identify the artist. “Depending on what we find, we may be coming to Melksham Independent News to help us with an appeal for information about the artist.”
Taylor’s workload more usually involves helping to manage the incoming workload to the busy Melksham Town Council office – greeting visitors, resolving requests for assistance, running the council’s social media channels and helping with office administration.
In addition to her administration work, Taylor, from Melksham, also spends time studying for her challenging level 3 business administration qualification, receiving guidance from her tutor as well as support from council managers.
Patsy Clover, assistant to the town clerk and Taylor’s manager said, “We think it is important, as a town council, to offer opportunities for young people in the town to learn valuable business skills, and we invite other Melksham businesses to follow our lead.
“Taylor has quickly made a positive impression in the office and is a valuable member of the team here – we certainly miss her when she’s away from the office studying.”
