A YOUNG girl has shaved off her hair, raising over £600 for local charity Raising for Raife.
10-year-old Skye Williams-Marvel, who has recently changed her name to Raven, took to the stage for her big moment at a children’s pirate party hosted in aid of two year-old Raife Wilson, who has cerebral palsy.
Raven’s mum Keileigh Williams said, “She was really nervous to be on stage in front of 700 people, but they all gave her a big round of applause after her head was shaved.
“To raise more money we made 16 plaits on her head so the children could make donations to come up on stage and cut one of them off.”
The headshave was carried out by Callum Davies, manager of the Faded Hair Studio in Trowbridge, who also made a donation to the cause. “Raven loves her new hairstyle,” said Keileigh.
Raven’s hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to children that have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Raven’s grand gesture for Raife was one of the highlights of the sold out pirate party which was hosted by CBeebie’s Gem from Swashbuckle.
Organised by Raife’s mother Laura Wilson, the party raised £2,500, pushing the total amount raised since November close to £19,000.
Raising for Raife is aiming to raise £45,000 to pay for special surgery at Bristol Children’s Hospital which will help Raife walk on his own.
