Local group, Melksham Community Meals, is celebrating receiving £1,000 from Waitrose & Partners Melksham as part of its Community Matters+ scheme.
The local community group, which provides support for those in need of a hot meal and some company, will use the donation to continue their invaluable work in the community, including buying new equipment to cook meals with.
The donation was made after partners (employees) at Waitrose Melksham nominated the cause at the supermarket’s quarterly charitable working group, which donates much-needed funds to charities across the country in addition to its usual Green Token scheme in shops.s
Alice Clements, branch manager of Waitrose & Partners in Melksham, said, “Melksham Community Meals plays a huge role in helping people in Melksham. We’re really pleased we’ve been able to provide this special donation to recognise and support the incredible work they do.”
Waitrose Melksham also shares a donation every month to local charities and causes voted for by customers as part of its Community Matters green token scheme. As shoppers go through the checkout, they receive a green token to place in a box of the cause they’d most like to support – the more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the share they receive.
Those interested in nominating a cause can contact their local Waitrose shop or pick up a form in store.
