MAKE a difference and raise cash for charity, simply by drinking coffee and eating cake this Friday and Saturday.
Macmillan Cancer Support is hosting its ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ with fundraisers around the country serving up coffee and tea and cake, all in aid of the charity. In 2012, 115,000 people signed up to the coffee morning, raising a record £15million.
This year is due to be even bigger and many coffee mornings are being held across Melksham and surrounding villages to support the event. These include:
Seend Community Centre, 10.00-noon: There will be coffee and cakes, a bring and buy stall, games and raffles and a good opportunity to meet friends and chat! Last year the event at the community centre raised £500 for Macmillan.
Scissors, Churchill Avenue, Melksham, 10am: Cakes and much more for sale including items to take away. All proceeds go to Macmillan.
Candy Jax, 10am-2pm: Biscuit decorating for 50p and cakes available on sale all day.
Rowley Place 10am-3pm: An open house event so anybody is welcome to come and support the event. There will be entertainment throughout the morning, also a large raffle, a cake stall and much more. For more information or to donate a raffle prize contact Nick on 704114 or 07760 240 232.
Forest Community Centre, 10.30am-12.30pm: Coffee morning with minimum donation of £2.50 per adult. This includes a drink and a piece of cake. Come and take a look at the new centre and have a chat with other local people, bring the kids along to play and have a cuppa whilst you’re there.
Art House Cafe, Market Place, 9.30am-3pm: the cafe will donate the whole day’s takings to Macmillan.
St Barnabas Church School Room, 10am-12.30pm: Cake stall as well as children’s cupcake competition. £1 entry fee which includes free coffee. Call Shirley on 702002 for more details.
Shurnhold Farm Treatment Rooms, 10am-4pm: Tea, coffee and cake as well as a treatment is available for £10.
