A LOCAL family made a generous donation to Dorothy House this month following a memorial dance at Spencer Sport and Social Club.
Melksham woman Sian Thorburn and her daughter, sisters, and mother Muriel Miller organised the concert – which raised £1,300 – in memory of their late father and husband, Bill Miller.
Sian said, “It was a fantastic night and we raised £1,300! Dad always felt uplifted and safe when he attended Dorothy House so we hope this donation will help other people to feel the same in the future.
“I’d like to give a massive thank you to the bands, the social club, and all those who donated raffle prizes. We’d also like to give thanks to Sarah Upshall and Julie Moreton for their invaluable input to a successful night, to everyone who attended the night, and finally to the staff at Dorothy House.”
Three bands played at the event on Saturday 28th March; Legacy, El Nino, and Train to Skaville.
Dorothy House Hospice, in Winsley, is a local charity that offers palliative care and support to patients with life-limiting illness.
