LACOCK village will be one of many places around the UK and the world, hosting the annual Great British Greyhound Walk this year.
Ann and Steve Stanford are the organisers of the event in Lacock.
Ann said, “You might not see Harry Potter, Hermione or even Professor Dumbledore but on the 21st June, look out for a group of Miss Rowling’s own choice of family pets – yes, lean and beautiful greyhounds out for a stroll, raising awareness of this magical breed as family pets.”
The event is free to attend, however, parking charges apply if you are not a member of the National Trust.
“We will also have a donation pot for the Retired Greyhound Trust for those who would care to donate.”
“Starting at 11am in the main car park, the walk will take approx an hour and participants are welcome to join us after the walk for a picnic or a pub lunch in the village, depending on what the weather brings.
“Incidentally, fans of period dramas might recognise some of the buildings in the village as it has been featured in TV shows and films such as Cranford, Pride & Prejudice and Downtown Abbey.”
All sighthounds and their companion dogs are welcome on this walk, so greyhounds, whippets, salukis, lurchers etc. But please be aware that all hounds MUST remain on the lead at all times.
