Dog show fundraiser for disabled riding group

A Fun Dog Show and Fundraising Day to raise funds for the Lacock Group of Riding for the Disabled is being held on Sunday 19th July.

The event is being held at the Lacock Riding Centre, Bewley Lane, Lacock (SN15 2PH) from 10.00am – 2.00pm. 

As well as the dog show there will be an equine and regular car boot sale, pony rides, riding demonstrations, reptile exhibition, craft stalls, bouncy castle and a raffle with some great prizes.

Suzie Loftin, owner of Lacock Riding Centre said, “Riding for the Disabled has been based here at Lacock Riding Centre for over 40 years, and I am delighted to be organising and hosting this fundraising event again.

“Local traders have been very generous in donating some amazing raffle prizes and we will have a wide variety of craft stalls from cup cakes to novelty gifts and jewellery.   The equine car boot sale is an excellent opportunity for riders to sell any unwanted tack and equipment or to find themselves some bargains, and this year we are also offering space to any car-booter who would like to come along.

“Last year we included a fun dog show for the first time which Chrissy Morris is organising again this year, and we hope that lots of dogs and their owners will come along to join in the fun to see if they are the ‘Happiest Hound’ or ‘The Most Ear-ristable Dog’ for the dog with the coolest ears!”

Lacock Riding for the Disabled is a local charity (No 1074304) which is part of the national charity Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).  They provide riding lessons after school for disabled children to help improve their health and wellbeing, delivering real and lasting therapy that benefits mobility and coordination, encourages confidence, communication and self worth whilst having fun.

The Lacock group is the only after school RDA group in Wiltshire, offering a free service to ensure they do not discriminate with respect to parents/ guardians’ financial circumstances.   The Group receives no funding from the national body and have to raise all their running costs themselves.

The fundraiser is on Sunday 19th July at Lacock Riding Centre,  entry is £1 for adults and 50p for children. The dog show starts at 10.30am with entries being taken on the day only.
