‘Macapello’, Melksham’s a cappella community choir, will be giving a Summer Concert at St Andrew’s Church on Wednesday 22nd July, at 7.30pm.
The choir of about 20 singers has been in existence for three years and was formed by singer/song-writer Guy Wilson. A former opera singer and school teacher, Guy now divides his time between running two community choirs and singing with vocal quartets The B Naturals and Corcordium.
Macapello’s concert will feature music from all over the world, specifically South Africa, the USA, Jamaica, Slovakia, Bosnia, Italy, Hawaii, Nigeria, Scotland and England.
Director Guy Wilson said, “Over the past few years the choir’s had the honour of singing in some really lovely venues, including St George’s Church in Bristol, Melksham United Church, Melksham House and Shepton Mallet Parish Church. But we really can’t wait to sing in the more intimate acoustic of St Andrew’s and I’m sure it will bring out the best in us. We are really hoping for a full house and it should be a lot of fun.”
Tickets available from Sheila Pickett, tel: 01225 920400. Price £4 in advance, £5 on the door.
If you’re considering joining a friendly and relaxed choir, new members are always welcome. No previous experience or sight-reading ability needed. The choir meets every Wednesday evening at Aloeric Primary School (£6 per session).
