Year five and six pupils from primary schools around Melksham gathered at Melksham Oak Community School on Monday 13th July to take part in the annual Superchef competition.
The standard of the cooking was incredibly high as each small group was briefed to cook a healthy meal for two, including a main and dessert, while sticking to a six-pound budget.
After an afternoon of tasting, judges Steve Clark, headteacher of Melksham Oak, Claire Cordon and Hannah Finch, ASDA community colleges, finally came to a decision.
In third place were Xavier Tyler and Max Adams from St George’s with a creatively presented roast dinner. In second place were Harry Burges and Dimitrios Manwaring from Bowerhill, who cooked up a very sophisticated sushi spread.
The winners were Tom Dowell, Josh Davis and Evan Milburn from St George’s with an oriental Mexican taco dish.
The prizes included gift cards and sweets generously donated by ASDA along with personalized trophies made by DT technician William Granger and cook books also courtesy of Melksham Oak DT department. The judges were extremely impressed by the creativity and effort that went into each dish. Event organizer Stacey Mulhull, teacher of Design and Technology at Melksham Oak said, “The quality of work was very impressive and really challenged the judges.”
Melksham Oak’s Superchef competition was once again a great success.
