Music and fun day raises over £500 for charity

A music festival and fun day, held at the West End Inn in Melksham on Saturday 8th August, raised over £500 for Dorothy House Hospice Care.

A host of singers and bands, many from the local area, played live music on a stage in the garden of the Hungry Horse pub on Semington Road from midday to around 11pm.

As well as the music there was plenty on offer to keep people of all ages happy, including a rodeo bull, a bungee run, a number of stalls, a barbecue, raffles and tombola, games and more.

There was also a visit from children’s favourite princesses from Frozen, and some members of staff and regular customers were locked up in the West End Inn stocks.

Entry to the event was free but money was raised throughout the day for Dorothy House. In total £540 is now being donated to the charity.

Stacey Larkins, manager of the West End Inn said, “Everyone had a fantastic day and we are really pleased to have raised over £500 for a really good cause.

“We would like to thank everyone who volunteered and helped out throughout the day, all the singers and bands who gave up their time for free, and to all our customers who came along and supported the event.”
