Witness appeal for incident on Western Way

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident involving two motorists on the A350 Western Way, Melksham on Tuesday 4th August.

Around 3.40pm there was an altercation between two men after they had stopped their vehicles just off the ‘Farmer’s roundabout’ – southbound – as the two lanes of the carriageway merge in to one.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen something out of the ordinary around this time.  The two vehicles involved were a blue Mitsubishi 4×4 and a silver Nissan Qashqai SUV.

One of the men received life changing injuries in the altercation.  He was taken to Bath’s Royal United Hospital by road ambulance.  He has since been moved to Bristol’s Southmead Hospital where his condition is described as stable.

A 55 year old Melksham man has been arrested on suspicion of causing Actual Bodily Harm (ABH) and has been released on unconditional bail.

If you can help please call DC Kevin Golledge on 101 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
