CRITTERS Pet Care will close next month, but owners Christine and Tony Duncombe hope someone would like to buy the popular pet shop.
Christine and Tony have been running Critters Pet Care in Melksham for seven years, but the business has been well established in the town for over 25 years.
The couple have decided to close Critters, based in the Old Stable Market, to concentrate on their furniture business, Emporium Furniture, as well as selling an extensive garden range including bedding and perennial plants. Christine will also be restarting her reiki and reflexology practice.
Christine and Tony hope to find someone to buy Critters so it can continue in the town.
Christine said, “We have loved running the pet shop, but it is time for us to do something different. It would be sad to see the shop close altogether because it’s a well established business in the town with lots of loyal customers.
“I truly believe that the business could expand and become something quite special in the town. Unfortunately the current shop space isn’t available, but if the stock and shop fittings were moved into a shop on the high street, it would do very well – especially if it had a card machine and perhaps even a licence to sell animals.
“It’s the perfect opportunity for someone looking at doing something a bit different. They wouldn’t have to worry about starting from the beginning because we already have lots of wonderful regular customers.
“It’s definitely not an easy job and it will keep you busy. We do all the weighing and bagging of pet food, stock taking, ordering, etc. so if you like to be busy, then it’s perfect.
“If you want a nice challenge and want to work for yourself, it’s great. Plus if you love animals then you have regular furry visitors and lots of wagging tails!
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers for their valued custom over the years.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed our time at Critters and getting to know all our lovely customers, but feel this is the right time to explore new ventures.”
