Get your tickets for two showbiz legends in Melksham

TICKETS are selling well for two showbiz legends for their dates in Melksham in June – and the organisers are reminding you to grab yours soon to be sure of seeing two of Britain’s top entertainers right here on your doorstep.

First up is Jimmy Tarbuck who swaps The London Palladium for the Assembly Hall on Thursday 2nd June at 7.30pm. He is followed by acclaimed Cornish comedian Jethro on Friday 24th June who is visiting the Assembly Hall as part of his ‘Jethro – 40 years the Joker’ nationwide tour.

Tarby, as he is known to millions of TV viewers, is one of the country’s most famous performers and a master of light entertainment. At his best in front of a live audience, he will be sharing anecdotes, demonstrating his quickfire wit and thoroughly entertaining the audience in a show which promises comedy for grown-ups rather than adult comedy.

Tarby will be using photos and video footage to take audiences on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with a wealth of hugely funny stories and anecdotes ranging from being at school and in the same class as John Lennon, to playing golf with Bing Crosby.

The Liverpool-born comic and entertainer became the resident compere of ‘Sunday Night at the London Palladium’ in September 1965, aged just 25 years old. During the 1970s and 80s, Tarby was rarely off the screen as programmes such as ‘The Jimmy Tarbuck Show’, ‘Winner Takes All’, ‘Tarby And Friends’ and the Live From’ … series attracted millions of TV viewers each week.

Jimmy Tarbuck is in much demand as one of Britain’s top cabaret artistes and after-dinner speakers, and he regularly hosts many of the top award events. He is also a popular TV guest and when he is not entertaining his corporate, television and theatre audiences, can be found on the golf course or supporting his beloved Liverpool Football Club.

During his illustrious career, Jimmy Tarbuck has achieved many awards as both an entertainer and a charity fundraiser. He has received the top Variety Club of Great Britain award of Showbusiness Personality of the Year and he was awarded the OBE for his services to showbusiness and charity. Jimmy is also President of Diabetes UK.

Tickets for this unique opportunity to see one of the UK’s most famous entertainers up close and personal, live at Melksham, are priced at £23 each and are available from the Assembly Hall on 709887 or the Tourist Information Centre on 707424.

The assembly Hall welcomes back Jethro on Friday 24th June.

Providing a memorable evening of hysterical nonsense, Jethro will beguile and befuddle with an endless stream of irreverent nonsense including more tear-jerking, farcical stories featuring his old mates Denzil and Slip Along Trevaskis, as well as hilarious tales from his extensive repertoire and his successful career in TV and theatre.

Very much a comedy legend as Cornwall’s cultural ambassador, over 4 million DVD sales pay testament to the legion of fans who have followed Jethro faithfully throughout his career

Assembly Hall manager Tim Cross said, “We’re delighted to be able to welcome Jethro back to Melksham. When he last appeared here his show was an absolute sell-out and we’re looking forward to another fantastic night of adult comedy on 24th June”

Tickets priced £20 are available from Melksham Assembly Hall, tel: 01225 709887 or the Tourist Information Centre tel: 707424.
