Top ten places for local racers

The second round of the N G Road Racing championships at Cadwell Park took place last weekend.

Broughton Gifford sidecar driver Andy King and his passenger Paul Skinner competed on their Bell on the Common 600cc Honda in the F2 races.

They managed a top 10 finish in their qualifiers race, then in the 7 lap final that was held with a damp track and drizzle they finished in 8th overall and sixth in class.

Despite retiring from his 250cc GP National championship race on the Saturday Broughton Gifford’s Darrell Higgins was back in action in Sunday’s race on his Dennis Trollope Racing backed T Z 250cc Yamaha.

The 10 lap race was held in bright and dry weather conditions and Higgins held third place in the early stages. Southampton’s Dave Hampton on his 250cc Yamaha passed Higgins at the halfway stage of the race and held onto third place until the flag with Higgins in fourth.

Melksham’s Mark Birkett had his best result of the weekend in Saturday’s  six lap pre injection Street Stocks Final when he finished in 12th place on his CBR 600cc Honda.
