Organ club bows out with £2,000 charity donation

MELKSHAM Organ Club recently donated over £2,000 to Wiltshire Air Ambulance after the club closed down in December last year.

The money, a total of £2,362.03, was in account when the club disbanded six months ago because of dwindling numbers.

Long-standing member Patrick Mitchell said, “Sadly membership had fallen to only 50-60 members, not making the club viable, and it was decided to close the club. Our members decided to give away any funds left over to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.”

The club, founded in 1984, met every month at Melksham Assembly Hall and had over 200 members in its heyday.

Many club events and outings were arranged over the years and Christmas often saw members enjoy a dinner/dance evening.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a charity that receives no government funding, operates the county’s only dedicated flying ambulance and flies hundreds of lifesaving missions every year.
