Sporting drama from Holt Dramatic Society

From the 13th to the 16th July, Holt Dramatic Society will be performing an outdoor production of ‘Outside Edge’; a humorous play by Richard Harris.

For the first time ever, the Glove Factory Studios  in Holt will provide the setting. Covered seating will be provided and a pre-theatre supper at the Glove Factory cafe may be booked in advance.

The society’s Hannah Durrant says, “The play is a comedy.  Set in a cricket Pavilion, Outside Edge deals with an eventful Saturday afternoon in the lives of five men and four women.

“Roger is having trouble getting a team together for the afternoon’s fixture against the British Railways Maintenance Division Yeading East, but this proves to be the least of anyone’s worries.

“Bob is having marriage trouble as he is still doing odd jobs for his ex-wife behind his current wife Ginnie’s back.

“Kevin is trying to fight off his over-affectionate wife Maggie while at the same time nursing his injured spinning finger and Alex’s new girlfriend ends up shutting herself in the toilets having hysterics.

“Even Roger’s seemingly perfect marriage to Miriam hits the skids when she discovers he was playing away from home in more ways than one on a trip to Dorking last year.

“Just when it seems things can’t get any worse for them, it starts to rain…

“Our director for this production is Kate Palmer, who has directed and performed in many successful plays in the past, and our producer is John Fletcher, who also appears in the production.”

Tickets are available from the Holt Superstore, next to the village hall, at £10 and online at www.holtdrama.org.uk.  Pre-theatre supper is available at the Field Kitchen Café from 6pm (tickets are £17 per person available from the Glove Factory Reception, (01225 784080). Curtains up at 7.30pm.
