MELKSHAM toddler, Harry Kirkman and his family have returned from America where Harry underwent a potentially life-changing operation.

Family and friends of three year-old Harry who has cerebral palsy, raised £60,000 to send him to America for a special operation which will help him walk on his own.

Harry’s mum, Charlotte Deegan said, “The op went well and Harry’s back has healed lovely. There were no complications and Dr. Park, who performed the operation, is happy with how it went and how it’s healed.

“Harry coped really well, hardly ever moaned to be honest. We thought he would struggle doing physiotherapy every day, but he  just took it all in his stride and really worked hard.

“It was a great experience for the whole family. In some ways it doesn’t feel real – we said before we left that after all this time, it felt crazy that we were actually going. We spent so long focusing on getting the money, it was hard to believe we had actually made it.

“We will be forever grateful for the help we have received from all Harry’s helpers. They have given him the best chance of walking and we won’t ever be able to say thank you enough.”
