AN APPLICATION to build six new houses on Dunch Lane was thrown out by Wiltshire Council this month.
The applicant had hoped to build six new homes across the lane from the George Ward development, but was told they couldn’t because the site was outside of the town’s boundary and would be ‘inappropriate’ development of open countryside.
The application claimed that the development would be ‘a logical and simple completion of development in this area’, but both Melksham Town Council and Melksham Without Parish Council objected to the proposal because it would impact the ‘rural buffer’ and cause traffic issues.
Local campaign group Community Action: Whitley and Shaw and a handful of residents had written in to oppose it for the same reasons.
