Dashing Santas and dazzling fairies raise money for Dorothy House

Dorothy House’s popular fancy dress Santa Dash fun run is back this year, 11am-1pm on Sunday 4th December, but with the added treat of festive fairies!

The run will start and finish at the Dorothy House Hospice Care HQ in Winsley and runners will be raising valuable funds to support the work of the hospice which provides specialist palliative and end of life care for people living with a life-limiting illness.

The newly named Santa and Fairy Fun Run for 2016 enables runners to choose to run the 5km route either dressed as Santa (in a red outfit and beard) or as a Christmas tree fairy (complete with wings and a tutu).  This year the race will be 1km shorter at 5km and will take place on a brand new course for 2016. Seasoned Santa’s will be thrilled to learn that there are less hills this time and there will be an exciting Snow Station and Fairy Dust Station to run through in the scenic grounds of the hospice.

Families, friends and supporters are invited to come and cheer the runners on and sprinkle biodegradable snow and fairy dust on them as they pass by.  With festive fancy dress welcomed, mulled wine, hot food and other refreshments available to buy it’s an event for all the family to enjoy.

The fun run is open to those aged 12 and all participants will receive either a Santa suit or a fabulous fairy outfit to run in – the choice is yours. The outfit is included in your registration cost of £17, so please visit the website to sign up for the event www.santafairyfunrun.org.uk Runners will also receive a free hot roll and soft drink. All entrants are asked to raise £40 in sponsorship or make a suggested donation of £40 in lieu of sponsorship for Dorothy House Hospice Care to help celebrate their 40th birthday.

Emily Knight, Event Fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care said of the fun run, “It’s a great event for all levels of ability, we welcome serious runners as well as people just looking to have a fun walk, amble or jog while raising funds for the hospice.  Bring the whole family to cheer you on!”
