Bowerhill Primary School has named Wiltshire Sight as its Charity of the Year for 2017.
The school is celebrating its 25th anniversary and is delighted to be raising awareness for the sight loss charity along with various fundraising activities involving pupils and staff throughout the year.
The school hosted The Great Bowerhill Blindfold Walk on 4th November. Students from every class took part in a sponsored walk around their school field whilst blindfolded and being guided by a fellow pupil. Both organisations hope the event will raise money to fund the charity’s Zoom Club – a group for visually impaired children and families.
Wiltshire Sight’s Zoom Club service operates throughout Wiltshire, the group offers social inclusion and emotional support to members in the form of activity days (farm visits, reptile handling, build a bear parties).
Community Fundraiser at Wiltshire Sight, Claire Neal commented, “We are delighted to receive this support from such a fantastic local school, we look forward to working with them on making school children more aware of sight loss, the challenges it brings to everyday life and how to take better care of your eyes.”
