New osteopath on board at Lowbourne

Lowbourne Osteopaths is welcoming osteopath Joad Shaban as a new member of the team at their clinic in Melksham.

Joad has special interests in paediatrics and sports injury and is also qualified in acupuncture, kinesiology taping and cranial osteopathy.

He is a member of the Osteopathic Sports Care Association and works with sports teams, including Amersham and Chiltern Rugby team.

Joad says, “Taking part in sport is rewarding physically and mentally. It improves health overall, reducing risk of illnesses, maintains or reduces body weight and improves self-esteem. It can help enhance co-ordination, agility and cardiovascular fitness and assist in reducing stress and improving concentration and social well-being. All very good reasons to keep participating as much as you can.

“However, performing too hard or too often may result in injury and when you encounter an injury you can feel frustrated and your morale can drop, as well as experiencing pain and discomfort. Soreness often resolves quickly by itself but occasionally it may persist and make it difficult to continue.

“Osteopaths can provide professional advice to support you in your sport and help your recovery from injuries. We use a wide range of hands-on techniques to mobilise your joints and help relieve pain and check for more serious conditions that could be causing your discomfort.

“We may use strapping or taping and can offer nutritional advice and prescribe a range of exercises to help you recover quickly and maintain optimal performance.”
