VOLUNTEERS gave Melksham’s ArtHouse Cafe a deep clean and a lick of paint over the Christmas holiday, and the cafe has some special events coming up.
The Rotary club’s Sarah Hiscocks said, “Dedicated members and their partners spent several hours on their hands and knees in the kitchen cleaning and up ladders in the main café painting all the walls.
“The result is a fresh new look which enhances the art exhibited each month! This month’s exhibitors are John Hughes, Val Coyne, Chris Rowland and Matt Gibson.
“The café’s cake maker, Angie Chatham, will be mixing up her cakes; for instance, January is reduced sugar month so she is doing this where possible without compromising on the quality.
“25th January is Burns Night so there will be some traditional Scottish treats and 27th January is International Chocolate Cake Day, which says it all!
“28th January is Chinese New Year so there will be something with a Chinese twist.
“As we go into the new year, preparations and rehearsals are under way for two upcoming Rotary youth competitions – Youth Speaks will take place on 1st and 2nd February. Stonar School is entering two intermediate and two senior teams and Melksham Oak School one senior team.
“The District Young Chef heat will be held on Saturday 5th February. Grace Collins, a student from Stonar School, will be representing Melksham.”
