MELKSHAM Scouts hand delivered 2,429 letters over the Christmas period.
Leading up to Christmas, people in Melksham could have their Christmas cards hand delivered by the Scouts if they were posted in special Scout postboxes which were situated around the town.
Claire Neal, group Scout leader said, “The post delivery was good again this year. We posted 2,429 letters and raised £595 which will go towards our summer camp this year.
“I think the post delivery continued to be popular for two reasons; the price (we ask for a minimum donation of 20p) and because people like to see the Scouts working in the community. Some people were very generous with their donations and even sent cards to the Scouts thanking them for the service they provide.”
