The February meeting of Atworth WI which was on Monday 20th was well attended.
Several members have attended courses at Denman in the last few months, as diverse as Middle Eastern and Moroccan cookery, history and heritage and making jewellery from glass and silver. Our speaker was Gill Bourne who is a Combined Holistic Therapist from Trowbridge. After studying food and nutrition Gill spent 15 years as a professional chef in hospitals and health care establishments. She decided that she would like to be able to help people in other ways and initially trained as a Massage Therapist and is now a Combined Holistic Therapist using Reflexology, Reiki and many other treatments.
She was very excited when she found out about Emmett Muscle Release Therapy, a technique which was started in Australia by Ross Emmett in 1999 and has been used in UK from 2007. She now includes this alongside other treatments. All treatments are bespoke to each individual.
It was a most interesting evening especially as she demonstrated some of her techniques for improving balance and relieving neck and shoulder discomfort etc. on members who volunteered.
Pat Ruffell won the competition for ‘The largest button’ judged by Gill.
The next Meeting, which will be the AGM is on Monday March 20th 7.30 pm at the Village Hall.
