Melksham RFC 10-24 Corsham – Dorset & Wilts 1 North, Sat. 25th March

Melksham played host to league leaders Corsham on Saturday in near perfect conditions apart from the ever present crosswind.

Both teams got off to a lively start in a fantastic tussle for the first half. Melksham were first on the board with Charlie Radcliffe carrying over from a quick tap-and-go, and fly half Callum Hurn added the extras.

The battle for the next score continued towards the end of the half, with the visitors executing a perfect catch and drive off the line-out to score.

Melksham retaliated with sustained pressure and the visitors were caught out by a penalty. Hurn took the points and closed the half up 10-5.

In the second half the visitors strengthened their grip on the game and were camped in the home half for significant periods of time. 10 minutes in, the visitors returned to a well-executed, unstoppable catch and drive to get a converted score.

Corsham were now in their stride with their forwards’ power game increasing their lead with another converted score by the number eight from the back of the scrum.

The final try, to give the visitors a bonus point lead, came in the last quarter. Final score 10-24.
