AN eight-year-old local girl is throwing a party to celebrate the moment she has her hair cut off so she can donate it to charity.
Local girl Evie-Rose Crook is giving her hair away to show her support for the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provide real hair wigs to children that have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses. “It’s all been her idea.” said her grandmother, Yvonne Crook.
Having recently turned eight, the fundraising event will also be an opportunity to celebrate Evie-Rose’s birthday. Yvonne said, “The reason for the party is to create awareness for the trust, raise money for them and to make it a special day for my granddaughter.”
There will lots on offer at the fundraising party including various stalls a cake sale, crafts, candles, bags and jewellery and a bouncy castle with a slide for children to enjoy.
“There will also be a raffle with some lovely prizes, thanks to the wonderful shops of Melksham and Chippenham, and the stall holders who have all donated,” said Yvonne.
Alongside the raffle there will be a silent auction where people will attempt to be the highest bidder on a number of items on offer.
All money raised will go to The Little Princess Trust. Looking forward to the day Yvonne said, “We have had no financial backing for this, but with the generosity of the hall committee and donations of prizes, we hope to have a great day.
“Please come along and help us raise much-needed funds for this little-known but amazing charity.”
The event will be held at the Melksham Forest Community Centre, which has been kindly donated free of charge, on Saturday 27th May from 10.00am until 4.00pm. The big haircutting moment for Evie-Rose will be around 12.00pm.
