Mike Smith Big Swing Band & Singers

Having performed many sell-out shows in Melksham this popular band led by Al Steele is to appear at the Neeld Community & Arts Centre Chippenham on Saturday 3rd June at 7.30pm, presenting a “Gala” James Last Tribute Concert.

The glittering show will be raising funds for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice in Devizes, which was opened by actor and patron Martin Clunes on the 6th May. When the hospice has completed a ten-week series of formal inspections, a specialist team will be providing palliative care at the hospice and in homes throughout Wiltshire.

Mike Smith retired as leader of the orchestra in 2016, his final show was at the Assembly Hall last September. Over the years they have raised thousands of pounds for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance in shows and dances organised by Dennis Overton.

The June concert is being presented by local Freemasons and in part it is celebrating the tercentenary of the formation of the Grand Lodge of England, they will be also hosting a fraternal visit to Wiltshire by members of Zur alten Linde Lodge and their ladies from Dortmund, Germany.
