New ArtHouse Cafe Volunteer Coordinator needs you!

THE ArtHouse Cafe has welcomed a new volunteer coordinator to the team who is on the look out for more volunteers to help the Market Place cafe.

The new volunteer coordinator is no stranger to the cafe though as ArtHouse cook Susie Barnes has kindly agreed to take on the role.

The ArtHouse has three paid cooks to cover for holidays and illness, each working two days per week, but Susie enjoys the café so much that she also regularly volunteers front of house too.

“I started as a volunteer a year ago and soon after, had the opportunity to become one of the cafe’s chefs,” said Susie.

“I absolutely love working at the ArtHouse Cafe, I have met so many lovely people and made great friends. It gives you something to get up for in the morning and I really look forward to my day.”

When the vacancy for a coordinator came up, Melksham Rotary Club knew who to ask straight away. Rotarian and Saturday volunteer Sarah Hiscocks said, “Susie is the perfect person for the coordinator role, she knows many of our volunteers already and her enthusiasm of the café is infectious.”

Susie is interested in meeting anyone who has a few hours spare each week who may be interested in helping out at the cafe. There are vacancies for either morning and afternoon shifts, any day Monday to Saturday, front of house.

“We are always looking for volunteers as there are often gaps in our rota,” said Susie.

Full training will be given to use the till and to become a proper barista coffee maker. If you are looking for something fun and interesting that will help your local community, please pop into the ArtHouse and ask for Susie to find out more.
