THE discovery centre at Melksham Oak Community School has undergone a watery makeover to inspire students to learn more about what goes on under the sea.
Librarians Christine Conbeer and Lucy Curry have themed a vibrant and inspirational display, which invites students to learn more about under the sea tsunamis, caves, food chains, biodiversity and conservation in our world’s oceans. Students have contributed with a wide range of contemporary artwork depicting various sea creatures.
“Teaching assistant, Richard Lavery, has painted a beautiful copy of the iconic Hokusai print, ‘The Wave of Kanagawa’ on an epic scale!” said Christine.
“Year 8 student Takuma Ryono, who has recently achieved a GCSE in Japanese at Melksham Oak, has produced a piece of writing about the artwork and translated it into Japanese script.”
