Read Easy makes the Switch

Local charity, Read Easy Melksham, helps adults who have difficulty with reading.

Coaching sessions are free, fun, and one-to-one. Students learn at a pace which suits them. There is no “school” environment and coaches are friendly and flexible. The scheme is already proving successful in Melksham and graduates are thrilled with their new-found abilities.

Thanks to the generosity of Melksham-based Knorr-Bremse Rail Systems UK, Read Easy Melksham has been able to switch its teaching manuals and work-books to a new, exciting scheme, called Turning Pages. The scheme has been pioneered by some other Read Easy groups in the UK and has proved very effective. Melksham is fortunate to be able to equip its coaches with these new books.

Hanna Hammond explained that Knorr-Bremse is pleased to support Read Easy because “reading is a fundamental skill for this modern age. Poor readers can find everyday tasks very difficult.”

If you know someone you think would like to read better, why not encourage them to contact Read Easy Melksham and have an informal and completely confidential chat with our coordinator? If you would like to get involved, we’re looking for volunteers to help in coaching or to serve as members of the management committee.

You can contact Read Easy Melksham on 0844 472 8986 or, alternatively,

e-mail melksham@read easy.org.uk.
