YOUNG Melksham is a community group who strive to provide the best facilities and services for young people in and around Melksham, however they are in need of a permanent home.
Earlier this year the group was able to negotiate a new two-year extension on their current home at the Canberra Centre. However, Wiltshire Council have made it very clear to the group that this is not a permanent option and they will need to relocate before 2019.
Despite having no permanent facility, Deputy Mayor, cllr Jon Hubbard who is the chair of the board of trustees at Young Melksham said, “We are delighted that the council has confirmed that they are looking at allocating us a site on King George V Playing Fields for the provision of a permanent youth centre.
“We will be announcing the launch of our crowdfunding scheme in the new year as we start raising the funds to build the new facility. Scary times in many ways but please be assured – the Young Melksham team are here to stay and we are determined that Melksham will continue to have the best facilities and services for young people in the county for years to come!”
To help the group raise money, they have created an Easyfundraising scheme where your shopping online will benefit and raise money for Young Melksham with no extra cost to you. This fundraising will help to continue to deliver the services provided by Young Melksham and help the young people of this town.
