There was a lot to report as we seem to have had a busy time since our last meeting.
Six members went to the Wiltshire Federation Weekend at Denman. We all enjoyed the courses we were on; Mediterranean Cookery, How to write your Life Story and Silver Clay Jewellery-making.
We were able to enjoy the Autumnal colours of the beautiful grounds and of course the wonderful food, as well as meeting people from other WIs.
We held our Autumn Fayre on Nov. 4th at the Village Hall which was very successful. Particularly popular was our Christmas crafts stall. Two members went to the Resolutions Meeting at Devizes where we heard five speakers talking about the Resolutions that have been put forward for this year’s National AGM. This information will be included in this month’s WI Magazine and every member has a chance to vote for the one they prefer.
Other courses attended since the last meeting were on working with stained glass and making world street food.
The President laid a wreath of poppies at Atworth Clock Tower during the Remembrance Service there on Nov.12th.
The Speaker at our meeting this month was Phillipa Batty who is a teacher for The Alexander Technique. We learned a lot about posture and how poor posture can affect the way you speak. This technique is used by many people in performing arts and in fact was created by an Australian actor who kept losing his voice. We were very surprised when told how heavy our head is!
The winner of our monthly competition was Lesley Adam, who brought the oldest coin.
Our next meeting is our Christmas event on Monday 18th December.
